Recovery from the pain and loss of addiction is much easier than drinking and using.

Once begun, recovery is so much better that it becomes a reward in itself. Recovery for addicts/alcoholics entails not acting, feeling, behaving or thinking like an addict/alcoholic. This new way of life takes years to master but one day to begin. It is best achieved by being with and learning from those who have 'been down' and have 'come back.'

When the pain of addiction outweighs the pleasure of 'using', recovery is possible.

Recovery takes works and readiness. The good news is that recovery far surpasses the turmoil of 'using.'

Buckle up for a great ride. Recovery gets gooder and gooder.

Relapse and complacency return when we fail to hang onto the pain that got us to recovery.

Knowledge fades when we feel the euphoric recall and our disease becomes activated. It comes out of hiding. We need a daily reminder at twelve step meetings of the awful damage done to us by this baffling disease. If we stop associating with our recovering friends, stop praying, stop reading our literature and stop trying to help the new person, we go down for the count. For more buy my book: Tried and True Methods to Get Sober and Clean at www.createspace.com.

I have seen families, once destroyed by addiction, become reunited with love and forgiveness once the change becomes long lasting.

They are perhaps better off than if the harm had never been done. The rebirth gives meaning to the rejections of the past. The awful past becomes their greatest asset.

Do not give up hope nor be afraid to come back and make amends for harm done. You have nothing to lose but pride. Losing pride is freeing.

Peace and Love,

Getting sober and clean because of a desire to get the job back or keep the wife is temporary.

Lasting recovery begins with surrender due to a severe beating.

Staying sober in a storm is possible and easier if you're in addiction recovery.
