Addiction Recovery Redirection - Recovery is truly a Blessing!!!

The change from active addiction back to life is astounding. Recovery takes work on our damaged lives but usually all is reversible. There is hope no matter how far down you have gone. Others who have been down farther will show you how to come back because someone showed them. Drug free recovery works; the problem is highly treatable.

Best Wishes,

Don't give up on your loved one. Recovery takes time. Set boundaries & don't give up.

You can take care of yourself and your family if you get a good understanding of the disease and learn how to fend for yourself during the storm. Get off the merry-go-round of addiction by seeing a good addictions therapist who knows the problem and the solution for addiction as well as treatment for co-dependency. You can't afford not to do this and you have the time. Be good to yourself and get support and advice from a caring therapist who will show you how to steer the ship while you heal. Al-anon will help you find others who have 'been there' and no longer are.

In recovery from addiction, we eventually find a 'way of life' that far surpasses addiction!

We find peace and a Purpose instead of bondage. We find that we now belong; we have friends who know us. We appreciate our life and the people in it. Work for this and you will prosper!

"Don't quit until the miracle happens - Anonymous.

Have a safe and happy journey,

After abstinence, the essence of recovery from addiction is character building.

This journey takes years and much time in meetings and with the steps. Uncovering and repair is a lifelong endeavor.

Effective recovery from addiction involves abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals plus character building.

Effective recovery from addiction involves abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals plus character building. Total abstinence gives the addict/alcoholic a chance to recover from the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical damge he has done by giving up the devious ways and then paying back for the harm he or she has done. This usually takes many months and should be done in the mainstream of life.

Addicts/alcoholics must want to get sober and clean because of their severe pain and loss. Then there is much work to do. Ideally, this is done with and by those who have 'been there' in the Twelve Step programs. It is beneficial to be mentored by a good therapist as the addict/alcoholic goes through the first year or two. A personal trusting relationship with a good therapist who has been there and a good outpatient group can save the person from the old self.

Recovery from addiction involves abstinence and much character building.

We have done much harm. We are conditioned to repeat these unless we relearn our selfish ways.

Addiction recovery successes (long term recovery) stems from hard work in making up for harms done and much prayer.

Successful recovery means inner peace - a sense that all is well in God's World and we are channels for love and peace.

The addiction problem perpetuates itself because we don't publicize recovery. We support drinking and drug behavior.

Addiction must be brought out into the open and not just mentioned when there is an overdose. We must publicize the solution and the joys of sobriety.

Addiction is chronic. Treatment is a daily program taught by survivors.

I work with many addicts and alcoholics who cut back or quit in their earlier years and then have a serious problem when they get out of control two, three, five or ten years later. They are not aware of the choinicity of addiction. It requires daily treatment taught by twelve step members who teach vigilance, consistency and model the joy of doing this.

Inpatient treatment for addiction does not get people sober and clean. There is much work ahead.

Recovery takes much spiritual, mental, emotional and physical work. Stability takes a few years in the mainstream of society where triggers can and must be neutralized.
