It costs some pride but is still inexpensive.

Recovery from addiction means surrender, not self improvement.

Recovery from addiction means surrender, not self improvement. Right living means making up for harm done to others and being helpful to them.

Recovering people, law, honest treatment professionals and families can arrest the opiate problem.

It will take a synthesis of these people working together with integrity. Greed and power have no place in treatment.

Think of our children and not self when deciding to legalize cannabis!

Cannabis impairs short term memory and creates difficulty with thinking abilities (Anderson BM, et. al,, 20110; Boyce A, et. a.. 2008).

Do you wants your children to be handicapped?

Effective Treatment for DrugAlcohol Addiction.

Good treatment is best administered by thoes who have 'been there' and know the traps Even more, these people know how to solve the problems that arise the first year or two without medication or other forms of blocking feelings and reality.

Addicts need to cope with feelings and not regress to anesthetizing them. Anger, fear, remorse and old hurts surface and must be resolved. Those who are sober and clean for years have done this and teach it.

We need to address this. The addictions field is being monopolized by corporations with little knowledge of effective treatment. AND, it is killing us!!!

JOHNNY MANZIEL:'I'M DOING REALLY WELL'... Sober and Training Hard

THINGS ARE LOOKIN' UPTMZSports.com

Johnny Manziel says he's focused on football again -- telling TMZ Sports he's training 5 to 6 days a week and sources say he's "dead serious" about a comeback.

The ex-NFL quarterback was leaving Mastro's Steakhouse in Bev Hills Tuesday night ... and told us how well he's been doing. He also appears sober. We're told it's part of a serious effort to clean himself up.

We know what you're thinking ... we thought it too ... but Johnny is telling people he means business this time around.

Sources connected to the QB tell us he's been working hard in the gym and trying to get himself ready to make another run in the NFL.

Manziel also told TMZ Sports he spoke with Clemson star QB Deshaun Watson after the National Championship game and told us he'll be in his corner as DW embarks on the NFL.

Dismiss alcoholic/addictive thinking with thoughts from recovering people.

Use the thinking that works.  Once the cravings are arrested by an admission of loss of control, give up controlling anything.  Let you HP run your life. You ruined your life.

Take three years and attend twelve step daily and learn the thoughts of recovering people.  Stop debating.

Regrets and regretful thoughts will then lessen and be replaced with positive thinking once you act with caring toward others.

We need months of repetition and then more for our daily life - and from now on...

Best wishes and may your recovery be joyous!

Recovery 101               P. A. Butkins 09--07-16 Just because you know how to stay sober doesn't mean that you will!

Knowing the step, stages and signs of recovery and the symptoms, signals and idiosyncrasies of relapse does not mean that you will stay sober and clean.

Knowing how to sponsor, where the best meetings are, who the best sponsor is, memorizing the step, knowing the traditions, legacies and warranties does not mean you are in recovery.  Attending AA or NA meetings does not mean you are in recovery, an active member.

You can go to meetings often and get worse.

You have to perform the tasks that sober and clean and happy people perform in order to become sober, happy and clean.

Self-knowledge is a way to keep controlling your disease and your world.  God is in charge; He is in control. Stop intellectualizing your disease and act.

Redo the steps, sponsor and do service work at your meeting or club.

Do any service work but do it!

until

you can sponsor. (Put your name on the sponsorship list)

Self-knowledge availed us____________!!!

Stay Sober and Prosper,

Doc Pete, the imperfect therapist

Success - Addiction Recovery 101 for the Class of 2016.

Success                                                                  Butkins 06-04-16

Not many people make it to recovery and, once in recovery, many go back to the insanity if addiction.  Now, I say this not to discourage you but rather to motivate you to be one of the successes.  Recovery is doable - highly treatable - and easier than you may think. Once in recovery, we have choices. Choose success; you are worth it.

The main action is to be wise enough, humble enough, teachable enough to get a mentor and do what he or she did. The actions are not as difficult as using drugs and alcohol and living that life of pain and loss.

Action begins with identifying and feeling the loss and pain that your addiction created.  Then comes the solution: dedication to a life of being useful.

We stop obsessing about ourselves and our problems and accept our lives and move up to a life of purpose.

This is an offer you can't refuse. It leads to inner peace and happiness. We dedicate ourselves to a life whereas we give back what we were given freely at our meetings.  We continue what works.

God bless and Happy Trails.

Doc Pete, the imperfect therapist
