The Myth of medicating Addicts/Alcoholics.

Prescription drug abuse is rampant. We should be cautious when giving medication to those who have no control over their intake. Rigorous family work must be performed in order to structure the use of needed medication for addicts. Let's work toward an educated remedy for treating addicts which includes a spiritual approach and not a pill.

Total abstinence gives the addict/alcoholic a chance to recover from the damage.

Do not shield him from the consequences as this is what motivates him to recover. The pain and loss are the answer and can lead to recovery.

Effective recovery from addiction involves abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals plus character building.

Effective recovery from addiction involves abstinence from all mood-altering chemicals plus character building. Total abstinence gives the addict/alcoholic a chance to recover from the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical damge he has done by giving up the devious ways and then paying back for the harm he or she has done. This usually takes many months and should be done in the mainstream of life.

Addicts/alcoholics must want to get sober and clean because of their severe pain and loss. Then there is much work to do. Ideally, this is done with and by those who have 'been there' in the Twelve Step programs. It is beneficial to be mentored by a good therapist as the addict/alcoholic goes through the first year or two. A personal trusting relationship with a good therapist who has been there and a good outpatient group can save the person from the old self.

Family Recovery from addiction is a miracle.

Families forgive when the effort is shown to be lasting over time and the behavior is consistently spiritually motivated. Families, once destroyed by addiction,  are usually better off than if the harm had never been done.

I have seen families, once destroyed by addiction, become reunited with love and forgiveness once the change becomes long lasting.

They are perhaps better off than if the harm had never been done. The rebirth gives meaning to the rejections of the past. The awful past becomes their greatest asset.

Do not give up hope nor be afraid to come back and make amends for harm done. You have nothing to lose but pride. Losing pride is freeing.

Peace and Love,

There is nothing better than a reunited family. Bonds become a blessing for all.

Lasting recovery begins with surrender due to severe pain and loss.

When enablers stop 'helping,' the problems can be perceived and felt. Then the addict/alcoholic has a chance to become desperate and seek help. When given shelter, food or a hospital bed for using drugs and/or alcohol, the problem gets worse. The addict/alcoholic is more convinced of his innocence and the desire to use becomes greater.

The addiction problem perpetuates itself because we don't publicize recovery. We support drinking and drug behavior.

Addiction must be brought out into the open and not just mentioned when there is an overdose. We must publicize the solution and the joys of sobriety.

Addiction is chronic. Treatment is a daily program taught by survivors.

I work with many addicts and alcoholics who cut back or quit in their earlier years and then have a serious problem when they get out of control two, three, five or ten years later. They are not aware of the choinicity of addiction. It requires daily treatment taught by twelve step members who teach vigilance, consistency and model the joy of doing this.

Marijuana related deaths increase by 87% in Colorado.

There was an 87 percent increase in drivers testing positive for marijuana who were involved in fatal crashes from 2013 to 2015. The Legalization of Marijuana in Colorado: The Impact Vol. 4/September 2016.

The above statistic was taken from a report by Colorado's Dept. of Public Safety:

Colorado Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Justice, Office of Research and Statistics, “Marijuana Legalization in Colorado: Early Findings/A Report Pursuant to Senate Bill 13-283,” March 2016

How about a call to action? What about our children? They are suggestible!

What about our future? It is important!!

How do we stop the greed and power mongering that drives this legislation? We speak out against it. I don't debate with drug affected, rigid drug users but I will have a voice.

Join me and My Freedom Quest on the journey to a healthy World.
