Lasting recovery begins with surrender due to severe pain and loss.

When enablers stop 'helping,' the problems can be perceived and felt. Then the addict/alcoholic has a chance to become desperate and seek help. When given shelter, food or a hospital bed for using drugs and/or alcohol, the problem gets worse. The addict/alcoholic is more convinced of his innocence and the desire to use becomes greater.

We shield addicts from the consequences with excuses for them and other drug use.

Do not debate with an alcohol or drug abuser if he does not want help. #addiction

Always ask the question, "Do you want help?" If you are talking to a loved one ask, "Does he want help?"

Cannabis impairs short term memory and creates difficulty with thinking abilities (Anderson BM, et. al,, 20110; Boyce A, et. a.. 2008).

Addiction Recovery is much more than abstinence.

Recovery requires abstinence, of course. You cannot be drug and alcohol free if you are still drinking or using drugs. Next comes character change and humility. A purposeful spiritual life replaces a life of hedonism and self-centered fear and loathing.

Recover and enjoy your new life.

Addiction is very treatable (by the right people).

Those who have 'been there' are the experts. Most addicts/alcoholics need coaching by peers. This is the direction to promote, not more drugs!
