There are no good reasons for staying drunk and high, only excuses.

We take away the time and money excuse by making treatment just 9 hours weekly. If you have no money, I will give you four weeks to get a job and begin paying. We at My Freedom Quest won't enable you but we will help you to get back on your feet.

Love and Peace,

I will accept anyone for substance abuse treatment if they sincerely want to be sober and clean!!!

The money comes second. If you or a loved one is broke and want treatment, I will evaluate and let you into treatment if you are willing to do what succeddful recovering people do and allow me to be the therapist and coach you.

Substance abuse treatment beginnings.

The most important variables when beginning treatment for drug/alcohol addiction are detoxification and an accurate diagnosis.

Addiction Counseling for the Ages - What I have learned after 50 years treating addicts.

I have learned that treatment is successful when the family and/or the addict/alcoholic is ready and willing to follow instructions from a seasoned counselor who specializes in addictions and is sober for more than 5 years.

Call me for treatment. The money is secondary.

Man up and Just Say Something (to an addict)!!!

My daughter would tell me to say WOman up!

We need to have the courage to risk controversy and say something to help another person recognize his or her problem with alcohol and/or drugs.  Addiction is fatal and even abuse can be fatal.  Save a life or plant a seed today.  Say something like:

"Listen, you're my friend... I care about what happens to you. I want you to stop using. It's causing me to worry about you because I'm afraid that you'll end up without your job or family or life... I know someone who you can talk to if you want help. Let me know."

This is one version of an intervention.  The main direction to take is one with caring and a loving tone with a sincere message about your concern.

Addicts die drunk and high because no one ever says anything.

So           -              JUST SAY SOMETHING!

Doc Pete

P.S. You can tell them to call (407) 786-1913 and I'll talk to them personally.

Family Unity - not Medication.

Medication offers a 'quick fix' which all addicts want. However, the process of staying sober and clean after getting sober and clean demands work over two to five years. Initial minimal substance abuse  treatment, 4-5 hours per week, when combined with three months of AA and/or Na participation and ongoing participation, leads to ongoing recovery and character building, spiritual development, good relations and success in job and family.

Family unity can get the addict/alcoholic to treatment and, if family continues treatment, can lead to success.  The family is the best motivator to influence the person to enter this rigorous treatment.

Do not be seduced by quick fixes that shelter the addict/alcoholic from the consequences.  Family MUST learn to set boundaries and not shield the addict from the pain necessary to enter treatment.  Protecting the addict from consequences can place a band aid on the problem and takes the fear from the family but does not work.  You end up with a dependent and eventually helpless and hopeless adult child who subsequently tolerates life instead of growing.  Do not shield the son or spouse because you are afraid of setting boundaries and upsetting the unstable family status quo.  Have the courage to learn and take the effective actions.
